Description

Michigan is the only state in the United States to have an interviewing protocol enacted as part of a law. Since 1998 Michigan has paved the way for interviewers to be part of the only science based and research driven interviewing protocol when working with children. CPS workers, law enforcement, CAC interviewers and prosecutors are required by Michigan's Child Protection Law to follow the document developed by Dr. Debra Poole. During this Adobe Connect meet-up, you will learn the phases of the interview, the history of how we got where we are, who is required to use this protocol, and the training required to assure that before you view a case involving a forensic interview you can assess that it was handled correctly. It is important for judges and referees to be informed and educated on the Forensic Interviewing Protocol so Michigan can uphold the tradition of being a leader in keeping kids safe.
